From K-dramas to K-pop, one of Korea's greatest exports must be the glass skin trend which flooded the Instagram feeds of beauty enthusiasts everywhere. The glass skin routine may be intense (nobody said it was easy!) but it is achievable if you’ve got the determination to stick with it, and we’re going to show you how it’s done in as few steps as possible.

No Korean skincare routine would be complete without the double cleanse, and it’s recommended to start with an oil-based cleanser first to gently draw impurities away from the skin. If you prefer, you could also cleanse with our Absolue Oil in Gel Cleanser. You should then follow up with a water-based foaming cleanser to wash away any dead skin cells.

If your skin is looking particularly dull and flaky, exfoliating after you cleanse is a great way to make it instantly look smooth and bright. If you prefer, you can use a manual exfoliant, like Lancôme’s Rose Sugar Scrub and enjoy the delicate floral scent as you work through your routine. Just remember to take it easy and not scrub too hard – you could end up doing more harm than good to your skin! And make sure to rinse with lukewarm water as hot water tends to dry out your skin even more.

A good toner will help to re-balance your skin’s natural pH level and add an extra layer of moisture so it’s important not to skip this step. Compared to Korean products, western-style toners are part of the cleansing stage rather than the balancing stage and often have astringent ingredients that dry out your skin further. For best results, consider Lancôme’s Tonique Confort. Enriched with Sweet Almond Oil and Acacia Honey, it’s a fantastic way to remove any impurities left over from your cleanse.

This is probably the most important stage in the whole routine after the double cleanse because serums are like a superfood for your skin. The ultra-light formulas sink into skin quickly and efficiently to deliver active ingredients. We recommend Advanced Génifique Serum which has an enriched formula of 7 prebiotic and probiotic-derived extracts that work in optimal affinity with the skin to help improve the skin barrier. The result of 20 years or research & 9 patents, this powerful serum is formulated with hyaluronic acid and Vitamin C* to help improve radiance and skin tone, while strengthening skin and working to improve the look of fine lines and wrinkles.

Having dark circles or tired, looking puffy eyes really affects the overall radiant look of the complexion. It's key to consistently use a powerful eye cream like our Advanced Génifique Eye Cream. This patented formula is concentrated with millions of pre- & probiotic fractions in every fingertip and helps protect the delicate skin around the eye against eye stressor damages such as pollution. On the inside, our cream helps to repair the skin barrier, and on the outside, it brightens the appearance of dark circles and smooths fine lines.

Yes, that’s right, we’re at the final stage now. You might already be confident with what you’re doing at this point but, if not, you should make sure you choose a moisturiser that suits your skin type. If you’re lucky enough to have youthful, plump skin already, a lightweight moisturiser like Hydra Zen Anti-Stress Glow Liquid Moisturiser might be all you need for the finishing touch. Otherwise, you could choose a product like Rénergie H.P.N. 300-Peptide Cream which improves the smoothness of skin, leaving skin firmer and reducing the appearance of wrinkles. For more mature skin that’s losing definition, Rénergie Multi-Glow will give you a long-lasting boost of radiance and deeper hydration, or you could spoil yourself and pamper your skin using Lancôme Absolue Soft Cream with its revitalising rose extracts. Whichever you choose, make sure you moisturise regularly, ideally in the morning and when you go to bed.

How can I improve my skin glow?

You can improve your skin's radiance in a few different, but simple ways. First up, being consistent with your skincare routine, don't skip any step, but particularly ensure that you don't go to sleep without cleansing. Secondly, focus on skin brightening ingredients such as vitamin C. Our Advanced Génifique Serum includes hyaluronic acid, Vitamin C* and 7 prebiotic and probiotic-derived extracts to help fight dark spots and strengthen skin. Strong skin can weather many storms and will look more radiant even when challenged. Our Rénergie H.C.F. Triple Serum is a triple active serum expertly formulated with targeted ingredients, represented by the name H.C.F. (Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin C+ Niacinamide, and Ferulic Acid), and designed to deliver optimal anti-ageing benefits in one triple dose. Proven to result in visible improvement of ageing signs: firmness, wrinkles and dark spots, apply every morning and evening after cleansing.

It's also important to include the delicate eye area within your skin routine to help fight dark circles and improve glow. We suggest a powerful eye cream like our Advanced Génifique Eye Cream, apply every morning and evening.

Can I achieve glowing skin if I have a specific skin type, such as oily or dry skin?

Absolutely, our skincare collection is created especially to support all different skin types including dry skin, combination skin and oily skin. The routine above is suitable for all skin types, and you can also get personalised skincare solutions, learn about your skin concerns and discover expert tips with our A.I. powered online skin analysis tool.

How important is exfoliation in achieving glowing skin, and how often should I exfoliate?

There are two ways to exfoliate your skin, either chemically with AHA and BHA ingredients or manually with textured scrubs. At Lancôme we suggest exfoliating twice a week, once with our exfoliating face mask, Rose Sorbet Cryo-Mask which contains salicylic acid and in just 5 minutes will refresh, brighten and exfoliate skin. Two days later, after cleansing try gently tackling uneven skin tone and dull skin with our Rose Sugar Scrub. The silky gel formula contains sugar grains to help remove dead skin cells and gives your skin a smooth and even texture. This scrub is enriched with acacia honey and rose water and leaves a comfortable and supple finish.

What are some common skincare mistakes that may prevent glowing skin?

The most common mistake we see, is being inconsistent, it's so important to stick to your skin routine every morning and evening. Don't go to bed with your makeup on, always, always give skin a thorough cleanse before bed and never skip serum. It's also important to use a dedicated eye cream on the delicate area around the eye to avoid dark circles and skin that looks uneven around the eye. Exfoliation will always help skin to look more radiant as it removes older, duller skin cells and reveals brighter skin underneath.
